MIXED CONDITIONALS

When we talk about mixed conditionals we refer to conditional sentences that combine two different conditional patterns. We are going to revise the combination of 2nd and 3rd conditionals.

Third / Second conditional: Used to contrast events in the past with the present result:

IF + PAST PERFECT, + WOULD - If he had not run after the thieves, he would be alive now.

Second / Third conditional: Used to contrast a present situation with an event in the past.

IF + PAST SIMPLE, + WOULD HAVE + PAST PARTICIPLE: If you weren't so lazy, you would have arrived on time.
