LÓVA (La Ópera, un Vehículo de Aprendizaje) is an educational project that is carried out in educational centers where one or more teachers turn their classroom into an opera company. The class dedicates an entire course to forming the company in which the students are organized by professional teams: dramaturgy, characterization, costumes, interpretation, public relations, production, lighting, director, set design, choreography and music. The group creates and premieres its own opera in functions in which it does not have the help of adults.

The European Union has chosen LÓVA as a reference Spanish educational project to develop cultural awareness and expression (Cultural Awareness and Expression Handbook).

LÓVA is integrated into the curriculum and its objective is the development of key competences. The project began in 2006 at the Teatro Real by Mary Ruth McGinn, a Fulbright scholar and teacher at the Maryland public school. Since then, it has been put into practice in centers throughout Spain thanks to the enthusiastic work of teachers committed to the comprehensive development of their students.
