Global ClassRoom 2019-2020

Global Classrooms 2019

 GLOBAL CLASSROOM 2019/2020

Since the beginning of this school year, the 3ºESO groups of bilingual section have been familiar with the Global Classroom project. And what is Global Classroom? This is a program in which 3º ESO students have to do a simulation of the General Assembly of the United Nations. Grouped in pairs, they pretend to be ambassadors or representatives of different countries belonging to the UN. They have to represent their country in relation to a specific issue, which requires a specific research, and which is currently a serious global problem to deal with.

From  IES Isaac Peral, Global Classroom has been worked from English and Geography and History subjects in which students were helped to research the assigned topic in depth , and to focus it from the point of view of the assigned country through a written assignment called position paper.

The Mock Conference took place,On December 17, in the Salón de Actos, in which all the students shared their research through the Opening speech. Throughout the day, participants showed not only the knowledge of various procedures and specific language of the UN, but also their ability to discuss, write and agree on solutions to current problems.

From the Mock Conference, a total of 5 pairs were selected to be the representatives of the Isaac Peral at the Madrid Conference, which took place on January 14 at the Las Acacias CRIF. The students put into practice what they had learned during the last months together with other students from other public secondary schools of the Comunidad de Madrid.

The evaluation of the whole activity has been very positive from the beginning. For the students and the teachers involved, Global Classroom has been a really interesting and enriching project in many fields.

We hope to repeat the next school year!
