Description

Blakeney School is a small primary school, on a beautiful site. Currently there are 91 children on roll. We operate 4 teaching groups, each named after the classes in the Harry Potter series. Each class is supported by a Teaching Assistant.

The village of Blakeney is located in a mixed socio-economic area. We have families which are considered financially secure; and families which are considered less so. The support which all our families and children need subsequently varies. Housing in the area is also a mixture of private residences and government owned rental properties.

Staff teach in a variety of ways, focussing on a Personalised Learning approach to our pupils’ development. We have a variety of ways to identify either individual or groups of pupil who need specific support. It is with this information that we can offer strategies to enhance learning.

We pride ourselves on our ICT facilities. Each Class has an Interactive Whiteboard, and we have a reliable hardwired network in the two junior classes. In addition to this, the other two of the classes have 12 permanent laptops each, again reliably linked to our network though wirelessly. The ratio of PCs to pupils is nearly 1:2.

Staff are extremely confident with ICT, and technology in general. The pupils undertake ICT activities daily as part of their curriculum. These include animation projects, film and photography, and desktop publishing. The pupils are very much used to the Internet, and the danger it sometimes poses. Subsequently, pupils’ well-being and safety are paramount whilst engaged in ICT lessons.
