In the XVI century, Spain became a very powerful empire, the largest that had ever existed.

The Spanish Empire had many different territories:

- Spain.

- the Netherlands.

- a large part of Italy;

- areas in central Europe;

- the American colonies;

- many regions in Africa and Asia.
