Introduction

  In this section you will have the oportunity to complement the contents that we see in the classroom about this unit. It will help you to understand better the contents and to learn more new things with less effort...

In this unit we propose you:

1. To see several  videos to review most of the contents of the unit, throught nice cartoons.

2. To visit some interesting websites for children about science in English so you can see more extra interesting information about the unit (videos, photos, readings, games, ...).

WHAT IS ENERGY AND TYPES OF ENERGY

    This is a basic, easy and worderfull video where you can review all basic contents that we have seen about energy. 

Energy = hability to work

Different types of energy: electrical energy, heat energy, solar energy, water energy = hidel energy, wind energy muscular energy,

  I think that this is a really good way to study and learn with no efford... Don´t you think so??? :-))

* Three connected concepts, which are not so easy to understand.

Energy - force - work

Energy = hability or capacity to work; it can make things change.

Force = can start moving things, or stop things moving, they can change their characteristics too.

Work = it is the effect of a force, when this one produces movement or change of something.

(Not all forces produce movement, or a change on things. For example if you make a force pussing a wall, it doesn´t move despite you are pussing. But on the other hand if you puss a table, your force produce a movement, and this one example of work)

 

GREEN HOUSE EFFECT AND  GLOBAL WARMING

*   You can see here a video about the "green house effect", and the "global warming" that it produces on the Earth planet.  This is an interesting issue related to the use of fossil energies and the negative effect that it produces on the Planet, when we make a too big use of them.

   In the video you will see that there is a thick layer of gases in the atmosphere around the Earth Planet that function like a blanket that helps to keep the Earth warm enough so living things can live on the Earth. (It is similar than when you go to bed and you cover yourself with a blanket to be warm during the night. In that case you are like the Planet, and the gases are like the blanket of the Earth).

  The problem can when the amount of gases increases a lot, so the "blanket" gets thicker, and it makes the Earth to be warmer and warmer...

(Imagine that you are warm and nice during the night with two blankets on your bed, but one day someone put five blankets on your bed... what would it happen to you? Will you feel too hot?? Whatch out, this is what it can happen on the Earth due the global warming)

Global warming = the warming of the Globe (the Earth Planet)

 * You can see also the possitive filter that the ozone gas layer is, so we get only the good sunlight energy, and the ozone prevents us from the bad sunligth energy. But we will see this better on the next unit with the reflexion of the light.
