We of the Sea
This lesson plan looks at the oral tradition of poetry, its ties to community, culture and history. Students will look at tribal Native American stories about fishing and how to prepare and tell their own stories. The video that is contained in the lesson plan features members of Astoria’s fishing community gathering to recite and hear poetry at the Annual Astoria Fisher Poets Gathering.
