Simple Past
In the Simple Past, in the affirmative sentences, we don't use an auxiliary verb, so the main verb has some changes in their form, consisting on:
- adding -ed at the end of the infinitive in the regular verbs; in the following chart, you can see how to form the past of these verbs:
- using the Simple Past form of the irregular verbs; here you are a list of the irregular verbs (there are more, but these are the ones we find more important).

Then, when we want to build a negative sentence or a question, we will use the auxiliary verb "did" ("do" in the past). As this verb uses the past, we don't have to change the infinitive of the main verb. Look at this chart, with examples:
