CEC Project

The schools in this partnership are facing the new educational challenges which social and technological changes have brought in order to reduce the “digital divide”, to counterbalance inequalities and, of course, to increase the overall quality of education we provide. These challenges also require a renewal in methodology in light of the introduction of ICT.

It can be said that digital competency is important across the curriculum. Although it is neither essential nor the most important component skill, it can help increase competency in many areas of the curriculum such as: language, foreign languages, art (which will be focussed on particularly in this project), mathematics and of course, communication using ICT.

This project will be for 21st Century Educational Communities, where families have the opportunity to participate, where children can act as communicators and are able to document the learning processes in which they participate, where teachers can discover new resources and to carry out creative activities and, last of all, where schools can open their doors to spread and exchange their experiences. The project will also enable educational projects from different countries to come together and involve all the participants in cooperative learning.

All of this will happen, thanks to the integration of ICT within the current educational reality where each child is considered unique and the protagonist of his or her own growth. Children wish to acquire knowledge and to create relationships with others and communicate.

This project is necessary because schools currently need an efficient and meaningful way to incorporate ICT into their curricula. Using ICT is an absolute necessity, too, to fully educate the future citizens of Europe.

Our main motivations are, firstly, all quality educational projects must always include students, teachers and families; the same is true for ICT projects. Secondly, this project will allow us to enrich the teaching-learning process with the knowledge and experience of other educational communities from other countries and cultures and thirdly, our students need to start the process of becoming competent in the use of new ICT educational resources from a very early stage of their education, this project will work with children from the age of 2 years.
