THE FRAGMENTATION OF THE SPANISH EMPIRE
These are all the kings who were called Felipe. Do you know any of them?
After the death of Felipe II in 1598, Spain had different kings:

| Felipe III (1598-1621) | Felipe IV (1621-1665) | Carlos II (1665-1700) |
In 1700, King Carlos II died without leaving a successor. Spain, and also Europe, started a war to decide the successor, the War of Succession.

There were two bands: those who supported Charles from Germany and others who supported Philip of Anjou.

The War ended in 1713 with the signing of the Treaty of Utrecht. It recognised the victory of Philip of Anjou (King Felipe V).
